Cookie Policy
Last updated: May 2026
1. What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files that are placed on your device when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work efficiently and to provide information to the website operator. Under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 (PECR), we are required to tell you about the cookies we use and, where they are not strictly necessary, to obtain your consent before setting them.
2. Cookies We Use
GradSignal uses only strictly necessary cookies. These cookies are essential for the website to function and cannot be switched off. They do not require your consent under PECR.
| Cookie name | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| authjs.session-token | Keeps you logged in to your GradSignal account securely. | 30 days |
| authjs.csrf-token | Protects against cross-site request forgery (CSRF) attacks. | Session |
| authjs.callback-url | Remembers where to redirect you after sign-in. | Session |
3. Cookies We Do Not Use
GradSignal does not currently use:
- Analytics cookies (e.g. Google Analytics, Hotjar)
- Advertising or tracking cookies (e.g. Facebook Pixel, Google Ads)
- Social media cookies set by third-party platforms
- Preference cookies beyond what is strictly necessary for the service
If we introduce any non-essential cookies in the future, we will update this policy and implement an appropriate consent mechanism before setting them.
4. Third-Party Cookies
Our payment processor Stripe may set cookies on our checkout pages to prevent fraud and process payments securely. These are strictly necessary for payment processing. Stripe's cookie and privacy practices are governed by Stripe's Privacy Policy.
5. Managing Cookies
Because we only use strictly necessary cookies, blocking them will prevent the website from functioning correctly - you will not be able to sign in or maintain a session. You can manage cookies through your browser settings, but doing so may significantly affect your experience of the Service.
For guidance on managing cookies in your browser, visit the ICO's guide to cookies.
6. Changes to This Policy
We will update this Cookie Policy if we change the cookies we use. Material changes will be communicated to registered users by email.
